Key Beach Licola Pozzuoli: Pool Lido on Viale Sibilla
Profile
Key Beach Licola: A Pool Lido on the Street of Beach Clubs Near Cuma
Italy | Campania | Phlegraean Fields | Pozzuoli | Licola
Viale Sibilla is a street of beach clubs, and the numbers on its gates show how closely they stand together. Le Dune Beach Club is at number 5, Lido Le Nereidi at 10A, Noah Mediterranean Beach at 14, Key Beach at 16, Capri Beach at 20 and Club Sorriso at 22. Key Beach Licola sits in the middle of that run, on the right as you drive down Viale Sibilla from Via del Mare, in the part of Pozzuoli’s coast that local listings place at Cuma.
Key Beach Licola Between the Cuma Ruins and the Coastal Reserve
Listings give precise distances from the lido: about 5.4 kilometres to the archaeological site of Cuma, 3.7 kilometres to the Costa di Licola nature reserve, 5.5 kilometres to Licola railway station and 8.4 kilometres to the centre of Pozzuoli. A neighbouring lido describes itself as a few metres from the Greek harbour of Cuma, so the street runs close to one of the oldest Greek settlements in Italy.
The area lies within the regional park of the Phlegraean Fields, which includes the archaeological sites of Cuma and Pozzuoli and the crater of the Astroni. For a visitor, that means Key Beach Licola can be paired with a morning at the ruins by car, though not on foot.
Dark Sand and a Sea That Faces Procida and Ischia
The beach belongs to the long sandy shore of Licola, made of dark volcanic sand. Another lido on the street describes the coast here as facing west, toward the islands of Procida and Ischia, which tells you the exposure: open sea, afternoon sun and a sunset over water. Those who want to see the island they are looking at can compare it with Spiaggia di Ciraccio Procida, which faces the same direction from the other side of the channel.
Because the sea is open, conditions change with the wind, and swimmers should follow flags and any lifeguard instructions. I could not verify the water quality independently, and bathing-water classifications are published by the regional authorities each season.
Pool, Fish Restaurant and Event Hire at Key Beach Licola
The service that every listing names for Key Beach is the pool. The lido’s own description in a beach directory adds an à la carte restaurant that specialises in fish but serves other dishes too, and a pool that works as a day-time swimming spot and as a location for birthdays, first communions, graduations and weddings. That emphasis on events is common along Viale Sibilla, where several neighbours offer the same.
The pool is the practical answer for children and anyone uneasy about the open sea. I could not confirm the depth of the pool, the sea entry or the presence of lifeguards, so parents should ask on arrival. I also could not find a rule on dogs. Italy has no national ban on dogs at beaches. Access is set by municipal and regional ordinances, and a private lido sets its own rules, so dog owners should ask before paying.
Beyond that, I could not verify services such as showers, changing cabins, Wi-Fi or beach volleyball for Key Beach specifically. Other lidos on the street list them, so check with the lido directly. For a comparison with the neighbouring club, Capri Beach Licola Pozzuoli lies at number 20, a few gates along.
From the Asse Mediano and Via del Mare to Viale Sibilla 16
Key Beach is easy to reach from the Asse Mediano, the road that links the Naples area with the Domiziana coast. The route leads to Via del Mare, and Viale Sibilla begins after it, with the lido on the right. Drivers will find parking at the lido, though I could not confirm the arrangements. Without a car, the first station is Licola, about five and a half kilometres away, and local buses connect the coastal strip according to listings. For a lido on the opposite side of Pozzuoli, on the lake-side strip at Lucrino, see Lido Napoli Lucrino.
The pool is best kept for the middle of the day, with the open sea left for late afternoon when the light turns west.
