Pasha Beach Lefkada: Quiet Sandy Shore North of Nidri
Profile
Pasha Beach (Pasa Beach), Perigiali, Lefkada: The Quiet Unorganised Beach 1.5km North of Nidri, With Views of Sparti, Heloni and Madouri, and None of the Harbour Crowds
Greece | Perigiali | Lefkada, Ionian Islands
Perigiali is a small settlement on Lefkada’s east coast, sitting 1.5 kilometres north of Nidri along the same coastal road that runs the full length of the eastern shore from Lefkada Town south to Vassiliki. The beach in front of it — Pasa Beach — is a small, unorganised sandy stretch with the same sheltered, gentle water that characterises all of this coastline, and none of the infrastructure or crowds that accumulate at Nidri’s harbour end in July and August.
The east coast of Lefkada faces a cluster of privately owned and wooded islets that sit in the channel between the island and the Akarnanian mainland. From Pasa Beach, the most visible are Sparti — low and wooded, directly across the water — Heloni, and Madouri, the island where the Greek Romantic poet Aristotelis Valaoritis lived, wrote, and is buried. Sailing boats navigate between them throughout the day. The combination of still green water, wooded islets, and sailing traffic makes the view from any point on the east coast of Lefkada feel more like a large lake than a sea.
The beach itself is small and sandy, unorganised in the straightforward sense: no sunbeds, no umbrellas for hire, no beach bar. Visitors bring their own. The water is shallow and calm — the same sheltered bay geometry that makes Nidri suitable for families with young children applies here. The absence of commercial organisation is the specific reason people choose Pasa over Nidri when they want the same calm water with half the crowd.
Getting There: 1.5km North of Nidri on the Coastal Road, Easy Car Access, Roadside Parking
The coastal road from Nidri running north toward Nikiana and Lefkada Town passes through Perigiali after approximately 1.5 kilometres. Pasa Beach sits immediately beside the road, accessed by a short path to the sand. Roadside parking is available alongside the road and in small informal areas near the beach access points.
From Lefkada Town, the drive south takes approximately 20 minutes, 15 kilometres on the main coastal highway that connects the capital to Nidri. Regular buses run this route throughout the summer, stopping in the village centres along the way.
The East Coast Beach Sequence: Perigiali, Nidri, Nikiana
Pasa Beach at Perigiali sits in the middle of the east coast beach sequence. North of it, Nikiana has two small pebbly beaches on either side of the old harbour, with trees providing natural shade and the tavernas close. South, Nidri beach is the busiest and most equipped, with water sports, beach bars, and the full resort infrastructure. Pasa is the quiet middle ground — car-accessible, sandy, views of the islets, calm water, and the village of Perigiali a few metres behind with its own small taverna options.
For anyone based in Nidri who wants a quieter swim without driving far, the 1.5-kilometre distance is short enough to walk in 15 minutes along the coastal road or cycle in 5.
The Islets: Skorpios, Madouri, Sparti, Heloni, Meganisi
Skorpios — the famously private island purchased by Aristotle Onassis in 1962 and used as the setting for his marriage to Jackie Kennedy in 1968 — is visible from the beach, though slightly further south, and more prominent from Nidri. The boats that pass Pasa Beach are typically heading toward the Meganisi ferry crossing or returning from one of the day-trip excursions to Ithaca and Kefalonia that depart from Nidri harbour. This is one of the most active small-boat channels in the Ionian Islands, and watching it from a quiet beach with no commercial noise around you is the specific Pasa Beach experience.
Pasha Beach (Pasa Beach) at Perigiali, Lefkada is the small unorganised sandy beach 1.5 kilometres north of Nidri — views of Sparti, Heloni, and Madouri islets across the channel, shallow calm Ionian water, no facilities (bring everything), easy car access with roadside parking, quieter than Nidri beach throughout the season, 20 minutes by car from Lefkada Town, and the sailing and boat traffic of the Nidri channel passing in front all day.
Drive north from Nidri for 1.5 kilometres. The beach is on the left. The islets are straight ahead.
