• Tavernas Nearby: While the beach itself is minimalist, the drive down passes through the village of Giannitsi, where you can find traditional mountain tavernas. These spots are famous for their local “Karystian” meats and handmade pasta (kurubia), offering the perfect hearty meal after a day in the salt air.

How to Get to Giannitsi (Limniona) Beach

The journey to Giannitsi is as much a part of the experience as the swim itself. It is a drive that takes you through the heart of Evia’s mountainous spine.

• By Car from Karystos: From the center of Karystos, the drive takes approximately 35 to 45 minutes. You will head north, climbing the slopes of Mount Ochi. The road is paved but features several winding turns and steep inclines as you cross the mountain to reach the Aegean side. The final descent offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the beach from above.

• By Car from Marmari: If you arrive via the ferry from Rafina to Marmari, the drive is about 40 minutes. Follow the signs toward Karystos and then deviate toward the village of Giannitsi.

• Pro Tip: Ensure your vehicle has a full tank of gas and your brakes are in good condition, as the mountain roads are beautiful but demanding. There is a small dirt area for parking at the end of the road, just a few steps from the sand.
